I find quitting Facebook to be worse than quitting cigarettes — because I did quit cigarettes.

A friend had his account canceled and I envy him. Sometimes I think well maybe I should lie and tell people my account was canceled?

When was kvetching to a friend — another friend — about how I really hated Facebook and would just as soon leave Facebook, publish to my blog and syndicate to other social platforms, my friend said, “Your posts bring people happiness.”

I don’t think my posts turn anybody’s life around, but maybe somebody having a bad day gets a chuckle and that’s helping people.

Also, there are people whose only contact I have now is their occasionally clicking a Facebook reaction or leaving a short comment and I feel like that keeps the connection alive on some level.

Still, I wish everybody would just move to an easier, more pleasant and and more ethical platform.
