Homelessness is a solvable problem. Solving it is easier than having a homeless population.

It would cost far less to solve the problem of homelessness than it’s costing us now to have homeless people around. Malcolm Gladwell discusses the solution with Rosanne Haggerty.

For years, common wisdom has had it that homeless people need to solve problems with mental illness and addiction before solving homelessness. Now, social scientists are seeing the reverse is true.

No shit, if have a home and you’re not worried about freezing to death or being knifed by some other homeless guy who wants to steal your shoes, you have more energy to get not-crazy and kick your addiction. And then your not-crazy, not addicted self can start bathing regularly in your own bathroom, and get a job. Good thing we have social scientists to figure that shit out.
