Like the author, we don’t have children. Unlike her, I don’t have a road-not-taken feeling. There is no other road. The hypothetical me who had kids is another person entirely.

  1. We don’t have children either. I had surgery and IVF yet still felt ambivalent about having children. I wonder how much of your experience is due to women being expected to feel incomplete without children in our culture. I’ve always said infertility couldn’t have happended to a better suited couple. We tried, we failed, we moved on,
