Suspended animation goes primetime: Say goodbye to death as we know it.

By replacing the blood with chilled saline, doctors have been able to suspend life in test animals for hours, then revive them later. They’re working on human trials.

The goal is relatively modest, to buy doctors time to perform surgery in cases of severe trauma. But if they can do it for hours now, can they do it for years, decades, or centuries in the future?
